Meet the Team at Happy k9
Sue Jones Owner and Dog Groomer
Sue has always been an animal lover and especially passionate about dogs. In 2015 Sue left her position as a manager for a London based IT company and followed her dream to become a dog groomer. After a year training with a local dog groomer and qualifying for a level 3 advanced diploma in Dog Grooming in 2016, Sue has now opened Happy k9 dog grooming salon from her home. Sue attended an animal first aid workshop in October 2015 and renewed in February 2017.
Sue is currently continuing her passion for dogs by studying Canine Behaviour and attends seminars and workshops where she can. Outside of work, she is very active within the local dog community by taking her cocker spaniel to training and agility classes and runs a dog walking club on Sunday afternoons.
Indy Resident Dog
Indy (short for Indiana Jones), is a working Cocker Spaniel and believes that he is front of house and there to meet and greet and make sure that everyone is comfortable.
In his spare time when he isn't working, he loves nothing more than to find water to splash in, whether its clean, muddy or boggy water.
Indy is currently continuing his passion for agility where he gets to meet his mates, race around a course at 100 miles per hour (not always getting it right), and is very good at celebrating what he has achieved afterwards.
Happy k9 Methodology
At Happy k9 we believe in one to one grooming, so that we can dedicate all of our time and attention to the one dog, so there are no queues of dogs waiting around in cages. For dogs that are nervous of specific grooming routines, we attempt to apply behavioural adjustment techniques or use some tillington touch movements in order to relax the dog, so that we have a 'no fear, pain free, force free' approach to grooming. This might mean that you don't always get the 'perfectly groomed' dog, but we believe in humanity over vanity.
The environment that your dog will be grooomed in is a converted sun room with floor to ceiling windows to 2 aspects of the room so the dogs can watch the events in the garden. There are large windows, a skylight and door that can be opened to keep the room at a lovely cool temperature and there is always fresh water available. The secure enclosed garden is available to the dogs for their breaks during and after their grooms. No Cabin dryers are used.
You can meet some of our lovely clients on the customers page, and we post regularly on our facebook page with before and after pictures of our customers and especially to congratulate those nervous dogs that have done especially well throughout their groom.
